As a sideline reporter for the MLB and college football, Julie Alexandria is constantly on the go and exposed to all the elements. Come rain or shine, being head-to-toe camera ready is a major part of her fast-paced career. Julie’s familiarity with the sudden shifts in weather inspires her choices for our current “All Weather” Guest Edit (available for a limited time only) which includes both fashion forward and utilitarian styles.

We got a moment to catch up with Julie as she travels the U.S. covering various sporting events…

CF: Where are you from?

JA: I’m originally from Queens, NY; but grew up on the west coast in Orange County, CA. Then moved back to NYC after college.

CF: How did you first discover your love for on-camera work?

JA: When I was about 10 years old, I took a tape recorder to a family reunion and interviewed various extended family members whom I didn’t get to see very often. I would go from person to person, asking them how far they traveled to attend the event, what their favorite thing about the reunion was, and who they were most looking forward to seeing that day. I guess you could say I have always been interested in people and their stories!

After college, I moved to New York City to pursue a career on the Broadway stage and then got into doing voice over work, which lead to hosting/on-camera jobs. I loved playing characters on stage, but in hosting; I could really just be myself, and found that was the most interesting character to be.

CF: How did you take your career from a dream to a reality?

JA: I had done some small hosting jobs for various outlets, but it wasn’t until I had the opportunity to host a sports trivia game show called “Beer Money” that I realized I wanted to be a full-time host in the sports and entertainment field. That was the job that really started it all. From the success of that show, some networks took notice, and it’s been a continual build ever since.

CF: What has been your favorite gig so far?

JA: My favorite job so far was reporting from the sidelines for the Washington Nationals Baseball team, and most recently: as the backstage correspondent for the Miss USA pageant. There is something so awesome about interviewing someone the moment they leave the field or stage after completing or accomplishing something great. To capture that energy and get their thoughts on their performance is pretty awesome. Oh, and being doused in Gatorade isn’t that bad either!

CF: What is something that would surprise us to learn about you?

JA: I am a huge Sci-Fi fan, and have a pretty impressive collection of vintage Star Wars action figures.

CF: What is your motto?

JA: “Embrace change. Life is too short for anything mediocre.”

CF: Where else can we expect to see Julie this year?

JA: Coming to a sideline near you …

CF: Last but not least, what are your go to Cat Boots when you’re on the job?

JA: I’m a huge fan of the Alexandria boot (and not just because it has my name!). In the field or in cold weather; when you have to stand for long periods of time, they are comfy, waterproof, and keep my feet warm!
