For more than five generations Caterpillar has been empowering the world to shape its future but it’s really the spirit of people who are dedicated enough, confident enough, and bold enough that turns the status quo into the extraordinary. People like Jax Anderson of Flint Eastwood, a Detroit-based multi-talented artist. We call these individuals #Earthmovers and Jax is our most recent inclusion.

Flint Eastwood is the evolution of the creative side of Jax who came onto the scene in 2012 with the rock EP, Late Nights in Bolo Ties and has been empowering us with her anthems ever since.

What’s Flint Eastwood? Flint Eastwood is what happens when friends and family gather in the forgotten spaces of an embattled city and are left to create with no rules, no boundaries, and nothing holding them back. Jax’s endless creativity is a byproduct of growing up in a talented family.

After short stints in rural Georgia and Los Angeles, where Jax developed a love for pop music and film, she returned home to Detroit at the beginning of the much-maligned city’s recent resurgence to form Flint Eastwood. She mixed her inherent love for Motown with her newly found passion for pop music to form the backbone of the sound that became Flint Eastwood.  But it was her explosive and endearing personality and her love of film and theater that brought the band’s live performances to a new level.

Her most recent EP is titled ‘Small Victories’ and we’ve pretty much got it on repeat over here.

Small Victories comes from the idea that doing anything creative in life takes a lot of persistence, struggle, and hustle. It’s easy to expect that the spoils will come easily and be immediately fruitful. But if you focus on the little things, the ‘small victories’, you realize that it’s those things that are the most rewarding. That’s what keeps me going,”  Jax explains.

Newly signed to Neon Gold Records, Jax just released a victorious new track ‘Queen.’ You can listen here but we’re warning you – you’re going to want it loud:

Over the next few weeks Jax is going to become a familiar face on our social channels. We’ll be following along on her journey to SXSW and hosting her at our Michigan Music Showcase at Stay Gold on March 14th at 7:00p.  RSVP and get more details here.
