Independence Day, aka America’s birthday, is coming up and we’ve got our party hats, general invites and shoes ready to go.  

To fill in the “what” and “where” we’ll be going through some of our favorite cities and the top July 4th festivities in each.

In our hometown of Grand Rapids, MI we love setting up picnics with family and friends at the Ah-Nab-Awen park downtown for the Amway Family Fireworks. This year the Meijer Family Zone will be benefiting Kids Food Basket — one of our favorite local charities!

Not far from Grand Rapids is Chicago, IL and the windy city is the best for watching fireworks near the water. The Navy Pier has a spectacular display for the 4th of July, and you could even book a cruise for a better view!

If you’re in NYC for the 4th of July, we recommend a rooftop party where you can catch the Macy’s fireworks display, drink in hand. One of our favorite places is Northern Territory in Brooklyn but you can also head to the top the Empire State Building for a great view.

On the opposite coast? L.A. has the best pool-side parties basically year round but it’s even better on July 4th. One of our favorite places, the Ace Hotel, is hosting a funky dance party on their pool deck, complete with a stellar view of Downtown L.A.

Whatever city you find yourself in this Independence Day, go ahead and celebrate in bold style.
