Stylish but let down by dangerous grip tech Before purchasing these shoes I got to try out the "Arctic Grip technology" in the store. They had a device with a block of ice where you could give it a go. I was impressed with how well the shoes gripped the ice. It was the deciding factor in deciding between these shoes and a competitor. Unfortunately I can report that in a real world situation things are a whole lot different. The grip technology does grip onto ice. But only onto perfectly clean ice. I bought these boots to wear for a trip north of the arctic circle. But in such a place there is also snow. The great irony about these boots is that combination of snow and ice makes the boots down right dangerous. I found the moment I tried them out (2 000 km from home mind you) that the grip tech also applies to snow. So a single step on any snowy surface will put a small layer of snow on the grip pads. This renders the grip tech useless and essentially makes them pads as slippery as snow on ice. So instead of being less slippery than other boots, these boots are actually more slippery instead. On the plus side I wore these for hours in -25 degrees C (-13 F) with double socks and no cold feet. As long as you move around it is no problem. If you are not moving even 0 C (32 F) will give you cold toes, but that is also true for much heavier boots. I also like the looks of these boots, especially the black version. To note I found the boots a bit narrow. I stepped up a size and even with just one pair of extra socks the boot had a little hard to close properly (but not enough to be a problem). Just be bring some extra socks if trying them out to wear in colder places. Because of the unsteady nature of these boots I would not recommend them to anyone. They are dangerous and the Arctic Grip technology should be scrapped before someone is hurt. It's a shame because without the grip tech I think I would have really liked these boots.

Sure footed value! Awesome awesome! These boots are extremely warm and keep feet dry in 0 degree weather, and they do what they say - they keep you on your feet even on ice - Thinking about buying another pair just because they are so good!
