I bought a pair of these (#74142) in 2001 and I am still wearing them (although they are due for replacement). I only wish it were economical to re-sole them, because the uppers - despite a couple cracks at the toe flex area - are quite serviceable. These boots are just fantastic. I couldn't be happier with them, and the fact that Cat is still offering them 10 years later. I'm taking the time to write this review now because I just ordered a replacement pair so my trusty 2001-models can retire. Cat - if you're reading this, please don't ever discontinue this boot. I'm going to need another pair in around about 2020. A side note: I also own a pair of the steel toe version of this boot (part no. P89370). Every bit as good as this model in terms of construction and toughness, but sized a little larger.

Once broken in this boot is very comfortable, and withstands just about anything you throw at it. They offer just the right amount of ankle support without limiting mobility, and the sole is very resistant to puncture. I have had three pairs of these boots and each pair has lasted at least several years. I would highly recommend this boot to anyone in the market for comfortable, rugged and long-lasting foorwear. It is important to note that these boots do go through shoelaces rather quickly. Although I am saddened that the black model has been discontinued, because oil stains are much less noticeable.
