Sire is made from full grain leather and is fully waterproof, equipping wearers to keep going at full pace no matter what the elements. The seams are sealed to keep the water out so that your feet stay dry. Sire is made using Cat Footwear’s EASE technology. EASE is 10-15% lighter than standard EVA soles making the Elude comfortable to wear for long periods. EASE is seriously shock absorbing. The sole unit has 30% more bounce back. EASE is incredibly durable.

Worthy addition to the CAT range. In the interests of fairness I must start by pointing out that I received a pair of these in my role as a CAT wear tester. I will start with the fit. If you're anything like me, you'll find that different shoes and boots seem to be different fits even if they are the same size. My usual size is a 9, so I asked for a 9 and received a 9. However, the fit was ever so slightly larger than I expected - i.e. they were not a cosy, to-my-foot fit, rather there was additional space (it felt) width-wise. Not a huge amount, but enough to notice. This caused me to have a slightly turned-in step, as though the inside of each foot was spilling over the bottom of the boot, which could be remedied by ensuring that the laces were VERY tightly pulled through the eyelets. If you experience this I suggest pulling each length of lace through each eyelet separately before tying. I am a fan of CAT boots and have been for a very long time. In fact, my longest serving pair of boots are CAT, 15 years and counting. Originally I was asked to test these boots over 3 weeks, but I took longer as I felt 3 weeks wasn't nearly enough time to put them through their paces. The quality of these boots is easily as good as my veteran CATs. They are sturdy and despite wearing them as much as I possibly could over the last 3 months, they show NO signs of wear. The waterproofing is perfect. The tongue is a single piece, part of the body of the boot, and I stepped into puddles of three to four inches deep, stood in them for a while, really splashed about - dry socks and feet! Overall comfort is good. They're not heavy, and despite the issue with the size for me, they are comfortable to wear and walk in. In fact, they are even comfortable to run in (I'm not suggesting 5k here, but over short distances as may be necessary, running for a bus or whatever). I have had boots that rub and become painful if you go faster than walking pace, but not these. They're also sturdy, so during my three months of testing them out, I tried to walk and jog over various terrains. Most of my time is spent in urban environments, pavements are no trouble, wet or not, but I've also trudged through woodland and over wasteland areas in these with no bother. I also found that they breathe quite well. Despite being waterproof I have never taken them off to sweaty feet or obnoxious odours. Now, that might be down to my feet as much as the booths themselves, but again I have had boots that seem to stew the feet, and these don't. My boots are brown. I find them stylish and attractive, but of course that is a subjective view. They go well with jeans! Had I paid for these I would be more than happy, very pleased in fact. I might have tried a size down to see if the slight over-size issue would be remedied with an 8, but it really isn't that much of an issue. I would say buy with confidence. Quality, build, comfort, style. I don't think you will have any complaints with these boots.

Worthy addition to the CAT range.
